THE WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM FATHER THANH
June 26, 2020
Dear parishioners and friends in Christ,
Greetings and God’s blessings to all of you.
In spite of this difficult time, we are a community of believers who live out of love
rather than out of fear and who live in the confidence of life rather than the certainty of death.
In our journey of faith, we do not walk alone because God is with us.
For this reason, I am convinced that we are filled with the same quality of love
that Jesus exhibited in his life and ratified in his death.
This weekend, we will be glad to welcome to our parish Deacon Rick Autry who,
together with his 14 classmates, will be ordained as permanent deacons this Saturday
morning, June 27, 2020 at the Cathedral in Raleigh. Deacon Rick, congratulations!
Today, Friday, June 26, 2020, is my 1st anniversary as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish.
Exactly a year ago today, on a sunny day, I packed my belongings and left for Southport!
Although the “honeymoon” period is over and the dust has begun to settle, I continue to enjoy
my pastoral ministry here in your midst.
We continue to have daily and weekend Masses with limited number of attendees.
Please pre-register at our parish’s website: http://www.sacredheartsouthport.org
Like all parishes in the diocese, we are still waiting for the Phase Three guidelines from the
Governor and the Bishop before making changes in the Mass schedule, parish activities
and social gatherings.
Let us continue to pray for one another and for medical professionals and all the people in front line
trying to defeat the coronavirus so that we may resume our normal lives.
