2020 Southport Day of Service, March 28, 2020 Canceled Until Further Notice

Canceled - Sacred Heart Church’s Participation in 2020 Southport Day of Service, March 28, 2020 Call to Family, Community, and Participation.

We believe people have a right and duty to participate in society, seeking together the common good… On Saturday, March 28, the City of Southport Beautification Committee in partnership with the Southport-Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, along with others will join together for the 4th annual Day of Service.

This is Sacred Hearts Church’s second year participating. We have projects in the Church, on the grounds and in the community.

Work begins at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast (simple continental) at the church, volunteers that are supporting city projects will head out for assignments downtown, and those working at the church will begin projects at 9:00 a.m. The City provides lunch to all volunteers at noon at Trinity UMC. Ministries may reach out directly for volunteers but this invitation to participate is open to all.

If you would like more information about the projects and participating on the 28th, please send an email to:  Susan Doyle spdoyle@bellsouth.net.                                                     If you would like to order a Sacred Heart T-shirt please send an email to Shelly Keenan shellyrkeenan1@gmail.com

Each Parish Family is Asked to Donate Baked Goods on Feb.15th & 16th.

Start date: February 7, 2020 - End date: February 16, 2020

Each Parish Family is Asked to Donate Baked Goods on Feb.15th & 16th.

Care for God’s Creation: Care for the Earth is not just an Earth Day slogan ...

...it is a requirement of our faith! Social Justice wants to encourage actions that are consistent with Laudato Si. One action that can make a difference is using a reusable grocery bag. The average reusable grocery bag used has a life span of more than 700 disposable plastic bags. (www.reusethisbag.som)

To help you make a change, each parish family will receive 1 reusable grocery bag in association with Earth Day—the Last weekend in April.
The Social Justice Committee in partnership with the Ladies’ Guild will be holding a Bake Sale at all Masses the weekend of February 15th and 16th. The funds raised will be used to purchase the bags.

Your support is needed! Each parish family is asked to donate baked goods on the weekend of February 15th & 16th. Bring your items (labeled) to the tables in the Social Hall before Mass. Then after Mass please come purchase a baked item. For more information about the committee contact Pat Lund: kegonsalundp@hotmail.com.
