Canceled - Sacred Heart Church’s Participation in 2020 Southport Day of Service, March 28, 2020 Call to Family, Community, and Participation.
We believe people have a right and duty to participate in society, seeking together the common good… On Saturday, March 28, the City of Southport Beautification Committee in partnership with the Southport-Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, along with others will join together for the 4th annual Day of Service.
This is Sacred Hearts Church’s second year participating. We have projects in the Church, on the grounds and in the community.
Work begins at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast (simple continental) at the church, volunteers that are supporting city projects will head out for assignments downtown, and those working at the church will begin projects at 9:00 a.m. The City provides lunch to all volunteers at noon at Trinity UMC. Ministries may reach out directly for volunteers but this invitation to participate is open to all.
If you would like more information about the projects and participating on the 28th, please send an email to: Susan Doyle email@example.com. If you would like to order a Sacred Heart T-shirt please send an email to Shelly Keenan firstname.lastname@example.org

Please stay tuned for any possible changes or cancelations.
Care for God’s Creation: Care for the Earth is not just an Earth Day slogan ...
...it is a requirement of our faith! Social Justice wants to encourage actions that are consistent with Laudato Si. One action that can make a difference is using a reusable grocery bag. The average reusable grocery bag used has a life span of more than 700 disposable plastic bags. (www.reusethisbag.som)
To help you make a change, each parish family will receive 1 reusable grocery bag in association with Earth Day—the Last weekend in April.
The Social Justice Committee in partnership with the Ladies’ Guild will be holding a Bake Sale at all Masses the weekend of February 15th and 16th. The funds raised will be used to purchase the bags.
Your support is needed! Each parish family is asked to donate baked goods on the weekend of February 15th & 16th. Bring your items (labeled) to the tables in the Social Hall before Mass. Then after Mass please come purchase a baked item. For more information about the committee contact Pat Lund: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Sacred Heart Ladies’ Guild will be sponsoring the “Dresser Project” from Saturday, January 11th through January 26th, 2020. This collection provides essential baby items to needy families in Brunswick County.
The display in the gathering space offers gift suggestions on paper baby booties. You are also welcome to purchase other critically needed items including cartons of disposable diapers, Pack-and-Play cribs and warm outerwear. Please look at the displays in the commons for more information.
Your support in past years has been extremely important to the Brunswick County families who struggle with daily expenses. If you cannot submit your item by the deadline, or have questions about the program, please contact: Nancy Seitz at (910) 253-3355 or email@example.com.
Your help really makes a difference!
The SH Ladies Guild invites all parish families to donate baked goods on November 9th and 10th. Please bring your items to the Gathering Place before Mass. After Mass purchase something yummy to bring home, whether you could donate or not. ALL proceeds from this sale will be used to benefit the Food Pantry in Boiling Springs Lakes.
Mark your calendar to stop by and pick up some sweets at the Ladies Guild Bake Sale after all Masses on May 25th and 26th. If you have a favorite recipe you would like to share, you do not need to be a Guild member to provide baked goods, as all contributions are welcome. Drop off your donation before the Mass you are attending. Please label offering to indicate if it contains nuts, is gluten free, sugar free, etc. Proceeds support the Ladies Guild Scholarship Fund.
The Sacred Heart Ladies Guild will hold their June meeting and annual installation of officers on Monday, June 3rd at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Spring Luncheon, which will be a potluck this year. Sign up at the parish reception desk and bring your favorite dish to share. All Guild members, active or inactive, and any women of the parish interested in learning more about the Guild are welcome. The deadline for signing up is May 27th.
